Interview Scheduled With Tom Sito!
This semester's research into character performance in animation will get kicked off with a BANG! I was fortunate enough to be bestowed as Tom Sito's Student Assistant for his animation workshop at USC. Tom was gracious enough to agree to sit down with me this coming Tuesday (2/16) for a one-on-one interview session about his work in character performance and story.
Tom is a veteran of the animation business for over 30 yrs. In 1998, he was named as one of the "100 Most Important People in Animation" by Animation Magazine. His film credentials are very impressive and are a tribute to his amazing talents and contributions to the field of animation.
His work includes (to name a few):
The Adventure of Raggedy Ann & Andy (1977) (assistant animator)
Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) (animator) (weasels)

Tom recently finished directing for Digimax, Inc. in Taiwan, on their short "Guo Bao Zong Dong Yuan- Adventures in the National Palace Museum". He also was Series Director for the PBS series “Click & Clack’s As the Wrench Turns”.
Tom has not only contributed to the field of animation artistically, he also served as the President of The Animation Guild and is also a well established author and animation historian.
His books include:

And COMING SOON:

CG the History of Computer Animation (1937-2001)
It will be very exciting to talk with Tom on his personal approach to character animation and performance, as well as his wealth of knowledge in the areas of story! I will look forward to getting to know more about Tom, the animator and the artist, and how his thinking process works in his personal work. I have known Tom for a little over a year now as a student in his classes and now as his student assistant. It will be great to tap into Tom's knowledge outside of the classroom confines and learn about his personal working and thinking methods on breaking down and creating successful character performances in animation and story-telling. This should be a great session filled with great tale's, laughs, and priceless knowledge of animation know-how!
